I started out decorating cakes for my oldest son's second birthday. With a lot of tears and frustration, I completed the cake in three hours. I have that picture hanging up in my shop to remind me just how far I have come.

I did some putzing at home for family and friends and had been drawing for most of my life. I dabbled in pastels and oils for a while, but realized that once you paint the picture, you have to have a place to hang it. There is only so much wall space, so I decided to do my drawing on cakes.

I started out at a small grocery store and worked on top of the donut frying machine but had to wait until it cooled off. Room was not plentiful. I had another friend that had a licensed bakery out of her home that was going to teach lessons at a Ben Franklin, but the class was cancelled. I asked her if I could come and just watch her for a while. She taught me so much that I moved to another grocery store and eventually had six to eight girls working under me and supplying five large grocery stores. My love of decorating cakes was waning as it was so much assembly line type of stuff. I missed the customer contact and just plain having fun.

My family and I moved up to Wisconsin Rapids many years ago where I worked for another grocery store. They eventually closed after I was there six and a half years. I fumbled around for a while until my husband (bless his heart) agreed with me to open up my own shop. I opened up December 6, 2004. Opening up your own business is very hard and I almost quit after six months but stuck it out. Graduation was the turning point and being blessed with very good employees and customers has helped my business grow. Everyone here is having fun being creative in giving the customer what they want.

Customers are our biggest advertiser as the word of mouth has been wonderful. We outgrew our old location and moved to our present place February 2009. It is a better location, better parking and much better visibility. Thanks to everyone we are able to continue doing what we love to do.

Our business offers many items now as you can see on our goodies page. We even have customers come in and ask if we can make something special for them that they haven't had in a very long time and, of course we try and accommodate them.

Loyal employees, hard workers and great customers…a combination that can't be beat!
